The try
I love a good rainy day. The trouble starts when you actually have to go out in one, running errands, trying to look like you meant to be there.
rain, but make it style ↓My usual move would be a hoodie. But if your hoodie or sweater is made of cotton-based threads, it can get soaked in the rain, and you notice it. It can also just make you feel cold. So I went a different way: a denim jacket.
not rain proof ✗To be clear, I'm by no means suggesting a denim jacket is rain proof. It isn't. But it's a great way to elevate the style. This one is cropped and from Old Navy. I'm not sure it's still in season, but it was a great find.
I prefer my denim jackets dark over light wash. I find they're easier to style on me than lighter wash jean jackets.
The sneakers
One of my favorite touches of this fit is the Comme des Garçons Converse. I'm not fully sold on how they sit with this fit, but it was fun to bring them out of the box and wear them around that day.
The pieces
- Cropped dark denim jacket, Old Navy
- White tee underneath
- Wide black pants
- Comme des Garçons Converse
What I liked / what I didn't
- A denim jacket gives a rainy-day fit a style boost
- The dark wash is easy to style
- The Converse were a fun pair to finally bring out of the box
- I'm not fully sold on how the Converse sit with this fit
- Denim isn't rain proof, so it's about style, not staying dry
Bottom line
I'd suggest this for anyone who wants a denim jacket, and I'd go dark over light wash. Would I reuse this exact fit? Not sure, but it was a good try.
